London City Challenge

A fast paced weekend of completing challenges and puzzles in teams while exploring the city and discovering the many secrets of London.

The city challenge projects aim to provide an international activity for seniors

Are you ready to take on the challenge of nagvigating London and completing puzzles?

From the 4th - 6th of October 2024 we will meet in London with teams from different countries to find the next winner in the series of City Challenges. So far there has not been a winning team from FDF, will that change in London?

During the weekend there will be challenges which will test your teamwork, logic, flexibility, agility and communication skills. Do not fall into the trap of thinking that this competition can be easily won by your vast experience.

There are challenges that will defy what you know, and think is possible in London. One thing you will not need is luck! Nothing is down to luck! Its purely down to your performance, skill navigating the city and cohesion as a team.

No matter the result, you will return to your home with a new adventure to tell everyone of, and you will have experiences and ideas that you can utilize at home. You will meet new people and get friendships crossing cultures and borders.

Each edition of the City Challenge is vasty different from the last, so just because you have been to Berlin, Amsterdam or Barcelona city challenge, it does not mean you know what will happen in London. We have a new planning team including people from FDF's play committee who will learn from the experiences in Berlin, Barcelona and Amsterdam to make this the best city challenge yet!

This will be the last City Challenge created by FDF CrossCulture. The concept was created as a response to Covid-19 and it has served it purpose. The international forum is developing a bigger and better activity to launch in 2027 involving interrail and visiting local groups around Europe.

The Small Print

Participants profile:

All participants are aged 15-30 years old. They can communicate in English and are open to new experiences and being responsible for each other in a team.

Each team needs a team leader (18+ with no upper age limit). Teams are 4 - 7 people including team leader.

Accommodation for all participants on Friday and Satruday nights will be in the same Girl Guides youth hostel in dormatories. It is not possible to book extra days before and after the event directly with the venue at your own cost. If you arrive earlier or leave later there are plenty of good youth hostels in London. You can save money staying away from the centre of London and travelling in.

The price per participant is 1200DKK (approx £140). This covers all accommodation during the event, food, activities and transport around London, but NOT travel to/from London before and after the event.

Participants are responsible for their own travel to and from London. Exceptions to the ages and team size can be discussed with the project leader.

As this is an FDF event, it is not permitted to drink or get drunk during this event.

Registration deadline: 15th September 2024
